Michael Scott

Trustee of the NMRN Board and member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.

Michael is a retired solicitor who worked for many years for Charles Russell Speechlys LLP, where he was a partner specialising in corporate and commercial law, and in charities and other not-for-profit organisations. He acted for many charities, many of them connected to the armed forces. He was involved in the creation of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and of NMRN, and the acquisition by the latter of HMS Victory and HMS Caroline. He has been a trustee of several charities over many years, and was also chairman of his firm.

He is the son of a WWII Fleet Air Arm fighter pilot, who went on to work in the aircraft industry for many years, and became a keen sailor. Mike therefore grew up in direct contact with these worlds, and studied military history at Oxford. In retirement he wanted very much to continue to use his experience in the charity sector to help NMRN and the Royal Navy.
